MY SISTER'S BLOG

My sister finally made it to Maryland to study Cello. She single handedly organized her trip, contacted everybody and gathered all the economic resources to get there. I'm really proud of her.

We all helped her out with everything she needed but even when things seemed not to go right, she was the one that pushed on. You can see the blog I created for her and if you want, please make a donation!

She has a full tuition scholarship from the Columbia Union College for four years, but she still has to pay for room and board as well as personal expenses... She's a hard working little genius and she's looking for sponsors!!

Thanks for your support!

It's official!

I'm now living in Mexico city.. stuck in family life, living with my two favorite cousins and their parents... And slowly but surely opening up to the city I've always wanted to live in... EVERYBODY SHOULD COME VISIT SOME DAY!

At the same time I'm confronting some difficulties while trying to adapt back to Mexican culture... One of them is my big ass two left feet!! It seems that I can't dance at all!! At least not the way people in this city dance...So dance lessons are next on the program.

Also moving around the city is simple but not "New-York-simple", but I guess that'll just take some time to get used to...

Food has been great... Parties? I think I'm filling up a quota for all the times I actually decided to "stay home" or have "dinner and a movie nights" back in New York. But I'm actually hoping that ends soon...

I'm enjoying living close to my family more than I expected it. Sunday lunch meetings, long chats, good food, lots of laughter, Im slowly macerating in the juices of social life in all of it's aspects.

Anybody reading this in the metropolitan area (MEXICO CITY'S metropolitan area, that is) can call me at my new cell 553557-2364 or at my relative's: 555-591117

We can meet for lunch, dinner, coffee, party, or movie...
I'll keep you guys posted.

The saga continues... (more beautiful colors)

Conejin continues to trip hard on Peyote salad and Don juan (the Coyote-bird-head being) guides him out of it..but..Conejin seems like he had a little bit too much and is unable "to come back".

Again, I really enjoy the colors...

Bunny goes psychedelic..

I draw a weekly comic book strip for a Mexican newspaper about a bunny that is an immigrant worker from Mexico in the USA, I'm currently drawing a story about him crossing the border.
In his adventures he'll encounter ghosts, robbers, drug traffickers, minutemen, and Don Juan, the shaman from Carlos Castaneda's writings.
I consider this particular strip above a warm up for the better and more serious illustrations I'm planning on doing of my Ayahuasca trip. Call it a funny "color study", is my first intent on Photoshop at creating something that resembles anything psychedelic.
In the story the bunny is fed a "Peyote salad" by Don Juan and starts hallucinating... the next strip will dwell a little bit more into the nature of his trip..

State of affairs..

Although I'm planning to live in Mexico city, I'm still stuck in my home town, Colima....
I came back to see my mother and to rest and think a little bit about my future.
...also I had a very strong spiritual experience recently with a psychoactive substance in Peru and I think I need time to process all that has happened in a familiar context.
My idea is to write/draw a story about what happened to me in those sessions, but the nature of the visions I had contrasts sharply with my style of drawing (or my pre-concieved style of drawing), so I'm having to make a lot of effort to produce work that at least resembles what I saw in my visions. In order to do so I had to turn to the work of Alex gray and Jim Woodring for inspiration. I'll be posting the results soon..

In the meantime I'll keep eating the good food of my town, visiting friends and enjoying the good weather...
Saludos!
